A Sunny Disposition

I've been told that above all other things, I have a sunny disposition. This means being positive and spreading it as much as possible so that others can feel happy, as I do. Some days are superfantastically awesome, and others are just okay, but all in all what I post here will hopefully get you thinking and smiling! :D

Yeah, I know…Ages since I’ve shown my presence here, whoops!
No more shall this happen. I promise. Well, no I don’t promise but I will try super hard. Life has been busy but not nearly as interestingly busy as I’d like it. Too much work and being social (while mindlessly spending money) stuff.
I’m trying this new thing where I have a good balance of the oh-so-social me and hanging out doing things I really love and feel passionate *gasp!* about. This will probably mean a hard to concentrate Erika but hey, it’ll be worth it.
Instead of thinking too much about what to post on here, I plan to exude the most awesome blog diarrhea you’ve ever seen!

p.s. Don’t forget to check out the pictures section! :)

A few years ago I went to see Cary Brothers at El Mocambo in Toronto. Their opening act was a beautiful half-American, half-Korean girl who played not only acoustic guitar and sang but also played the ukulele, keyboard and kazoo. Her name was Priscilla Ahn , and I remember coming out of the concert thinking that she was easily the best part. Since then, I have been to two other of her shows in the city. When You Grow Up is one of her latest songs that I love because it brings out the big kid in me. Hope you like it :) .

Whether I want it to happen or not, the weather is starting to feel more like the creeping of winter rather than the lovely in-between season that fall is. When going over pictures I’d taken at my grandmother’s house in the countryside of a picaresque October, I remembered this video I’d seen a little while ago. The music in the video is done by a favorite musician of mine Priscilla Ahn whom I’ve seen in concert multiple times. I like to think of myself as being pretty cute sometimes and well, so is this video. :)

While re-watching the film Big Top Pee Wee, I started looking into a specific clown that I remember being especially terrified of as a lil erika. It turns out that he was quite an accomplished circus performer. He was widely known for his character “Grandma” and made famous for doing a handstand on a whoopee cushion. How scary is that?!
Therefore, this night has been about the circus. Browsing on Circopedia and other sites, I found some ridiculously awesome posters from old circus shows. I would have loved to see these wonders as a kid. Although not so much the Dog-faced man. Enjoy!

The definition of old sexy is someone like Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. She’s dressed down hanging out of a window onto the fire escape playing “Moon River” on guitar, yet is so elegant with her sultry voice and pure emotion in her face. Gorgeous.

This video is of Morrissey covering the same song. His brilliance takes it to a different level and adds lyrics but really does it justice.

Ahh, the “first post”. I wasn’t sure where to begin since starting with a complete-text post would likely get the viewership of a) me b) my mom c) my cat Freddy and finally, if I’m lucky d) that guy who happened to glance over while taking a break from his study notes on his fancy Mac laptop at the cafe only to return and forget he’d ever read it.
Therefore, I bring you something awesome that I happen to be introduced to by my friend Daniella* in first-year of university. Natalie Dee is an illustrator of mostly-pointless but charming and sweet cartoons. These are some of my favorites and I hope that if you enjoy them, you’ll check out her website and either “Like” her on Facebook like I do or buy one of her ever-so-awesome t-shirts. Eg. “Koala Farts Smell Like Cough Drops”. Hilarious I tell you!  … http://www.nataliedee.com/

*Aha! you followed me down here only to find out that unlike some published stories where one may use a false name in order to protect the privacy of their compadres, I will wholeheartedly be honest about my life, my family and friends on here. Be afraid, very afraid! Mwuahahahaha… :)
